June Meeting and Book Choice

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 30th at 6:30 pm.

The book for next month, Mike's choice, is
Flush
by Carl Hiassen.

Summary
You know it's going to be a rough summer when you spend Father's Day visiting your dad in the local lockup. Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor — which has made taking a dip at the local beach like swimming in a toilet. He can't prove it though, and so he decides that sinking the boat will make an effective statement. Right. The boat is pumped out and back in business within days and Noah's dad is stuck in the clink. Now Noah is determined to succeed where his dad failed. He will prove that the Coral Queen is dumping illegally somehow. (www.scholastic.com)

Maximum Ride: The Final Warning

The discussion this month was on Maximum Ride: The Final Warning by James Patterson.

Group Rating: 4 (out of 5)

Emma: I thought it was an OK book. Personally, it was kind of dramatic for me but overall it was an OK book. Maximum is an interesting character with wings that is the result of a genetic experiment. It's interesting to hear the thoughts on how people with wings deal with things. I would recommend this book to someone who likes action and Antarctica.

Jacob: I thought it was an interesting book. It had some odd parts to it. It was OK.

Tommy: I thought it it was a good book about people with wings and global warning. I would Recommend it to people who want to help our environment.

Mike: The book was good. It was a page turner.
