Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 22nd at 6:30 pm. We will be discussing Tom's choice this month which is World War Z by Max Brooks.

We will NOT be meeting in July and August. Check back here in the beginning of September to see when our next meeting will take place. It will be Nick's choice in September.

Tom: I think it is a good book.

Emma: I thought the Looking Glass Wars was a wonderfully different side to the original Alice in Wonderland.

Mike: I loved how the looking glass wars was an amazing twist to Alice in wonderland. 5

Tom: I think Unwind is a gross book. My rating is a 5.

Emma: Unwind was a disgusting, yet fascinating story. I'd give it a 4.

Ben: This book was really good and scary.5

Mike: This book came in strong and kept going. 5

Sam: Great book. Lives up to the motto "save the best for last". Not something to read before going to bed. 5

Tom: I think Bone is a funny book. my rating is a 5

Emma: Bone is a funny story about little white creatures who battle the ugly rat creatures. I give it a 4.5.

Jacob: It was a hilarious book.

Tommy: It was a funny book.

Mike T: totally funny and a great read.

Emma: I would give this book a 3.5. It was pretty childish at one point, but I guess the rest was ok. Maybe, just maybe, I will read the second book. Unless a new Clique book comes out, then I just HAVE to read that.

Tommy: I would give this book a 5 because of all the action.

Nick: I give it a 3, the idea was funny, the NERDS group, the assassin, the evil plot. The story wasn't that action-packed or interesting though.

Ben: The book was good but not that great. Some of the jokes were really stupid, and it was not that funny overall. 2

Review of The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson

Emma: I thought Kingdom Keepers was an extremely well written book. I liked the whole Disney Park idea. 5

Sam: Although I didn't finish the book it was great until the part I read. 5

Tommy: It was a good book. I loved the Disney park theme. 5

Mike: I thought it was a great book. It reminded me about all the fun times I had at Disney. 5

Nick: It is well written, but the story isn't something that I find extremely enjoyable. 3

by Ridley Pearson.

In this fantastical thriller, five young teens tapped as models for theme park guides find themselves pitted against Disney villains and witches that threaten both the future of Walt Disney World and the the stability of the world outside its walls. (www.scholastic.com)

Review of The Hunger Games

Rating: 5 (out of 5)

Tommy: I think the book was very good because it had a lot of action.

Jacob: I think the book was really good and I would probably recommend it to someone my age.

Mike: I thought it was perfectly placed with tons of action.

Alex: I think the book had a lot of sad and scary parts in it. I also think it is a book that a lot of people would love to read.

Emma: I thought the book deserves an outstanding ovation but I'm scared to think what the movie will look like because in one part the dead contestants get turned into these wolf people and attack this boy until Katniss has to shoot him (with a bow and arrow so he doesn't feel the attack) because there's nothing left of him but a raw hunk of meat when they're finished with him.

If you haven't received the next book choice yet, I've requested it for you. If you remember, we are reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

I'll contact all of you the first week of September to pick a date for our next meeting. By then we should have a good idea of our school and activity schedules.

Mike: It was a great book. All the characters had real personality's.

Sam: This book was a great lesson on protecting the environment. Also I have a crush on the character Shelly!!!!!!

Tommy: It was a great book it is a lesson learned.

Jacob: It was a weird book, but good. Dusty Muleman is so weird.

Summary

You know it's going to be a rough summer when you spend Father's Day visiting your dad in the local lockup. Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor — which has made taking a dip at the local beach like swimming in a toilet. He can't prove it though, and so he decides that sinking the boat will make an effective statement. Right. The boat is pumped out and back in business within days and Noah's dad is stuck in the clink. Now Noah is determined to succeed where his dad failed. The discussion this month was on Maximum Ride: The Final Warning by James Patterson.

Group Rating: 4 (out of 5)

Emma: I thought it was an OK book. Personally, it was kind of dramatic for me but overall it was an OK book. Maximum is an interesting character with wings that is the result of a genetic experiment. It's interesting to hear the thoughts on how people with wings deal with things. I would recommend this book to someone who likes action and Antarctica.

Jacob: I thought it was an interesting book. It had some odd parts to it. It was OK.

Tommy: I thought it it was a good book about people with wings and global warning. I would Recommend it to people who want to help our environment.

Mike: The book was good. It was a page turner.

The last book that our book group read was Point Blank by Anthony Horowitz. This is what everyone said about it.

Sam: A main character named Dr. Grief, in my opinion, is a totally psychotic nutcase.

Nick: It was a good book, I'm definitely reading the rest of the series, I highly recommend this to anyone who reads books.

Mike: It ends in a cliff hanger.

Ben: This is a great book, I read all the others, and i really recommend them to anyone who likes adventure and action.

Jacob: It was a very interesting book.
